Paris Museums: the Ultimate Guide.

Did you know there are almost 250 museums in Paris?

There are definitely wayyy too many Paris museums to see them all in one trip to Paris...

So how on earth are we supposed to decide which ones to see?

Well, that’s not easy! But I’ll do everything I can to help you make an informed choice.

I’ll tell you first what I think are the “must see” museums in Paris, so this would be a good place to start.

Then, of course, there are the hidden gem museums; the ones not everyone has heard about but are so completely worth seeing. Everyone has heard of the Musée du Louvre, of course, and the Louvre is an amazing place..... but there are so many Paris museums that are not as famous but are so completely worth seeing.

Actually, I would say that the fact they are not so famous and therefore not so crowded can definitely be a virtue in and of itself. What often makes these places special, are their location or the building they’re in, adding another layer of attraction to seeking them out.

And they are manageable! You can actually visit the whole thing in an afternoon or morning and still have the time and energy to fit in other activities that same day. I, myself, am a big fan of the hidden gems of the Paris museums.

Art museums not your thing? Well, there are still plenty of museums in Paris for you too! Paris has more than just art museums, so if you want to change it up a bit, here are some of the Paris museums that cover other topics.

Another very important kind of museum, of course, are FREE museums and art displays that charge no entry fees. These are great for the traveller looking for cheap travel tips....and for just about everyone else, too!

If the museum you want to see is not on the ‘free museums’ list, well there is still hope for a discount or freebie for you! I will tell you all about the Paris museum pass, and the Paris museum free days.

If you would like to read a little background on the museums I discuss, here they are (with more to come shortly!):

For the best Paris experience, look into your options, and pick the best few to several museums for you, based on your interests and amount of time you have in Paris.

I still think it is important to check out the Musée du Louvre or the Musée d’Orsay; they are beautiful and educational and it’s nice to see places you have heard so much about your whole life....but I would very highly recommend that you also pick out one or some of the lesser known museums above and give them a try too.
